Requirements & notes
- Age 10 and over (ages 10–14 earn Junior Open Water, with depth limits)
- Basic swimming ability (a short swim/float test)
- No disqualifying medical conditions (a dive medical questionnaire)
- Issued under an international agency (RAID or SSI)
What to bring
- Swimsuit (wear it underneath)
- A change of clothes and personal toiletries
- Photo ID and something to write with
- Comfortable clothing; motion-sickness pills if you're prone

Questions before you book
Common questions before joining the Open Water course.
How is the course structured?
After the theory portion, two pool sessions and four open-water dives at Beomseom, usually 3–4 days. Lodging, breakfast and lunch, all equipment, license issuance and boat dives during the course are included; dinner is separate.
Can I get certified if I can't swim at all?
The Open Water course includes a basic swim/float test. If you can't swim at all, we suggest getting comfortable with a discover dive first, then taking the course.
